🛍️ The Sanctuary Food Drive 2025 – A Resounding Success!
The Spring 2025 Sanctuary Food Drive, held in early April, exceeded all expectation! Our friends and neighbors in The Sanctuary community crushed it! They came together with students from Hagerty High School to restock the food pantry shelves at HOPE Helps.
Led by Jean Scott, this local effort gathered around 80 bags of groceries for families in need. Consequently, it demonstrated the power of teamwork, compassion, and community service.
🎥 Jean Scott’s Thank You to All Who Made It Happen
Watch the short video below as Jean thanks the residents of The Sanctuary, the students of the Spanish Honor Society, and their teacher, Pam Rhodes.
In the days leading up to the The Sanctuary Food Drive 2025 event, students delivered brown paper grocery bags with bright pink flyers to nearly 800 homes. Subsequently, they returned on Saturday, April 5, 2022, with driver partners to collect donations door-to-door. Every bag was sorted and stocked in HOPE’s pantry the same day.
Jean Scott Homes donated $250 to the Spanish Honor Society as a thank-you, helping fund their end-of-year banquet. In addition, the students earned valuable volunteer hours toward Florida Bright Futures Scholarships—a program that nearly one-third of Hagerty students qualify for. That statistic highlights the school’s exceptional academic culture.
📦 The Sanctuary Food Drive 2025 Supports HOPE Helps

HOPE Helps provides grocery support for many Seminole County families. As a result, families can keep the lights on and stay in their homes. Their assistance covers:
- Food distribution: A stocked pantry eases the financial strain on struggling families.
- Emergency support: HOPE offers help with rent and utility bills to prevent homelessness.
- Long-term stability: Through case management, they guide clients back toward self-sufficiency.
This tradition began in 2011 with a fall food drive in Live Oak Reserve. That year, Jean and her daughter Tara—then president of the Math Honor Society—launched the idea. In 2015, Jean expanded the effort to include The Sanctuary in the spring each year. Since then, this bi-annual tradition has continued to impact lives across our hometown of Oviedo and throughout Seminole County, Florida.
